April 30 2001Below is the "Spirit of Tasmania" and Melbourne in the background as our 3 drivers prepare to board - Lyn, Harvey and Harvey - yes! TWO Harveys! Confusion reigneth! From Devonport we headed to the North West of Tasmania, and visited Joe and Enid Lyon's cottage at Stanley, beneath "The Nut", as the hill behind is known. Seagulls at Stanley were very interested in our lunch! Coastal north west Tassie, scrubby terrain. We camped at Julius River Forest reserve, and walked through some beautiful rain forest. Back through Devonport and off to Ben Lomond National Park. We awoke to a misty morn camped on the side of Ben Lomond. Ben Lomond camp site. Harvey, Harvey, Lyn and Gary half way up "Jacobs Ladder", the notorious track up to the Ski Resort. Ben Lomond Ski Resort - a somewhat lonely place in May with no snow. Driving back down "Jacobs Ladder". Beautiful mist in the valley below Ben Lomond. Off through the NE blue gum forest, Tassie is one BIG blue gum forest!!
